Veterinary Medicine Regulations introduced in October 2005 allowed you, as a rule, to obtain a prescription free of charge from your veterinary surgeon. However, this regulation was only in place for 3 years. As of 1st october 2008, your veterinary surgeon may charge a small fee for the administration cost of supplying your prescription, but you would still benefit from being able to order up to 6 months medication on one prescription, which will more than cover the administration cost incurred should your vet decide to enforce it.
